Just very annoying!! P & S shampoo helps me more than any other I have found on the market. There was one other that was better but they took it off the market. P & S is a good second. It also leaves your hair nice.

(More customer reviews)Let me start by saying that I KNEW this soap had a very unique smell, described by other reviewers as being similar to a campfire.I thought that would be fine, since I love camping and campfires.Unfortunately, the soap I received smells nothing like a campfire; rather, it smells like a pile of burning tires.Or like burning garbage.(Having grown up in the country, I know what both of those things smell like.)

Anyway, despite the awful smell, I tried using this soap several times.Contrary to what is written on the packaging, it did not lather white; the lather was more of a brownish-yellow.Fortunately it didn't seem to leave any discoloration on my skin.But the main reason that I won't be using this soap again is because the smell stayed on my skin for a very long time... 8+ hours.I could have lived with the brown lather and the nasty smell IF the smell had not stayed on my skin... but there is no way I'm going to go out in public smelling like a trash fire.Not gonna happen!

I really, really wanted to like this soap.I've been searching for something that would help with acne and seb derm, and this soap seems to get a lot of good reviews from folks with those conditions.I'm wondering if the manufacturer changed the formula or something, because the soap I received is just nasty and is not like the soap described in the other reviews.

Anyway, give it a try, but be prepared to smell like ashes and cinders.

Neutrogena T-Gel Shampoo, Original, 4.4 Fluid Ounce Review

(More customer reviews)I used it, and it works better than anything else.The concentrated 2% tar is better than the typical 1% tar, but, I don't think it's necessarily worth the difference, unless you have a real bad case.The 1% T-Gel is comparable to a generic drugstore brand I've used; the main difference is that the Neutrogena shampoo base seems to be easier on the hair than the generic.Again, it depends on your hair, its length, and thickness.

My main worry with coal tar shampoos is the health risk of coal tar.It's a VOC, and generally, putting VOCs on the skin isn't doing your liver any favors.Some people also say it's carcinogenic.Consequently, I've cut back on using this shampoo, using it for special occasions.

It's thick, but still rinses out well, not too heavily scented, and leaves my hair feeling clean and somewhat more tamed than many other products. Even by hair stylist noticed the difference - she tells me she's less tempted to cut my hair with a weed-whacker or chainsaw, and keeping her just using scissors makes it worth the four stars in my book!

It's so concentrated even with my long hair, only a tiny bit is plenty, so you get your money's worth. I do like the conditioner more & conditioner really softens my hair more then this shampoo.
Within 2 uses, my hair felt softer & a little shinier. After now THREE MONTHS, my hair is very soft, very shinny, supple/soft more then it's EVER been since I was a kid. My hair looks perfect for a hair care commercial. Yes, it's flatter, but used to be white person's afro from all the frizziness. It's nowhere near flat iron flat & my natural curls still have body. I'm not sure if this shampoo is a little drying, but I definitely love the conditioner. Don't expect added volume, just curl definition/smoother.
Check out the manufacturer's site by looking up the name. No, not being paid for this, just good, natural product & hope with this to make sure they keep producing it due to demand.
Can look up the brand's website if local health stores have it or order through them or here. I ordered it here through Forever Young Store, very good customer service, very fast shipping. Been ordering more.

(More customer reviews)I have been using this soap for about 3 years now and I don't know what I'd do if they quit making it.I have acne prone sensitive skin and this soap is the only thing I've found that I can use that doesn't leave me with itchy, burning, irritated skin. It also has helped my acne.I'm in my 30's and have had acne ever since my teens. Prior to using this soap I would get huge painful pimples, now when I break out the pimples are smaller, less noticeable, fewer in number, less painful, and heal much quicker. Yes, the smell did take some getting used to but now I don't even notice it. It has a medicinal odor but the smell doesn't linger on your skin. It lathers nicely, rinses clean, and leaves no residue. I can use this soap year round and my skin does not dry out. On the contrary I use very little lotion or moisturizer these days. I woulddefinitely recommend giving this soap a try and they even sell it in little travel sizes, perfect for trying out a product without buying a full sized bar.

(More customer reviews)I've tried all sorts of shampoos and conditioners for relief for the psoriasis on my scalp--both OTC and prescription, but nothing has made a significant difference, until my new dermatologist recommended this.I've been using it over 2 months (with a conditioner by Aubrey Organics which leaves my hair soft and healthy) and have noticed significant reduction in itching and psoriasis spots on my scalp.There's almost no itching and I haven't noticed flakes or psoriasis spots(there used to be A LOT of both).I've been using the Aubrey organics shampoos and conditioners (GPB & Island Naturals varieties) for close to 2 years and did not notice an improvement with the psoriasis, but when I switched out the shampoo for the DHS Zinc, I was pleasantly surprised.Also, it smells nice and there's nothing unpleasant about it.I'm very happy with this product!

DHS SAL SHAMPOO Review

I'm sure all such shampoos do about the same good job of keeping your scalp psoriasis under control, but the difference with DHS Sal is that it does a good job cleaning your hair and rinses out thoroughly (it's not a gel) and doesn't contain much besides salicylic acid and shampoo base. (The simpler the better!)

Also recommended: DHS Tar. I've found that alternating between these two shampoos--salicylic acid one day, coal tar the next--does a better job than using one exclusively.

He recommended both the DHS Zinc and the Shampoo.I love them both.They are pleasant scented and most importantly DO NOT irritated my scalp.I struggled for years trying to find a store bought shampoo but they are all so perfumy and make my scalp itch.So if you are thinking about trying any of the DHS products at least you know 2 of them are worth it.I ordered the conditioning rinse but I haven't gotten it yet. I will post are review when I try it.

(More customer reviews)I bought this shampoo after reading the ingredients label at Whole Foods.To have Aloe as the 2nd ingredient is a huge plus for me.Initially I was not a big fan of the smell (it smells almost like caramel) but after using it a couple times, I cannot get enough of it!I leave it on my hair longer just so I can keep smelling the wonderful scent.Leaving it on longer has made my scalp more healthy.It took me a month to notice, but I have been itching much less than I used to.

It doesn't lather as much as the standard shampoos, but it lathers enough to make you feel clean.And I still use a conditioner in addition to this because my hair is thick and dry.

It is pricey, but you are paying for a safe, effective, luxurious eco-friendly product.I HIGHLY recommend this shampoo!I RARELY repurchase expensive products and fall back to the drugstore brands, but this time I will!

(More customer reviews)This shampoo was recommended to me by a sales clerk at Whole Foods.I have very itchy scalp and dandruff that other non-medicated shampoos were not helping to alleviate.I wanted something natural and not full of Earth harming chemicals.I have to say that with the first application it worked fantastically.I did not itch and my hair did not come out dry or frizzy.I did end up returning the shampoo because the darned shampoo made my hair smell like truck stop beef jerky, and quite frankly I don't care for beef jerky.I thought the smell would go away once I dried my hair, but it did not.I will admit, though, that the smell wasn't quite as pungent.I'm a city girl, and I don't spend a lot of time in the woods, but the time I have spent in the woods I can honestly say that they did not smell like this horrendous shampoo.So, it works.Just watch out for the smell.

Glovers Medicated Shampoo - 4 Oz Review

(More customer reviews)I'm so happy to find this product again!I used it for years with great results, but haven't seen it since I moved away from the town where it was manufactured.The usual dandruff/itching shampoos (Head & Shoulders, Selsen, etc) haven't worked for me.This is the only one.Warning, the smell isn't pleasant.One of the main ingredients is TAR, but the scent seems to wash out.I've always used a scented conditioner, so I'm not positive.However, I don't care if what it smells like!It works that well.
